Project Description:

This Design/Build project involved the deployment of an Intelligent Transportation Safety System (ITSS) along approximately 49 miles of SR 25/US-27 in Broward and Palm Beach counties. The limits of the project were from Griffin Road (SR 818) in Broward County and north of SR 80 in Palm Beach County. The ITSS consisted of a wireless communication network, closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras, dynamic message signs (DMS), Highway Advisory Radio Systems (HARS), Citizens Band Radio Advisory System (CB-RAS), Road Weather Information Systems (RWIS) / Environmental Sensor Stations (ESS), Vehicle and Speed Detection Systems (VDS) and an electrical power subsystem and all associated hardware and software necessary to support the system. 

The project received the 2014 Florida Transportation Builders Association (FTBA) Best in Construction Design Build for Quality Construction.
