Ricker Road Widening Improvements

Project Description:

Eisman & Russo provided civil engineering design services for the reconstruction/widening of 2.9 miles of Ricker Road from Morse Avenue to Old Middleburg Road The road was widened from a two-lane rural roadway to a three-lane urban section, including curb and gutter, sidewalks, bike lanes, lighting, traffic signal installation, storm water management improvements, signing and pavement markings, and utility relocation.

Water and sanitary sewer system improvements and adjustments were designed to allow an existing underground communication line to remain in place instead of being relocated.  Specially designed drainage structures were specified where the location of the communication lines would not allow installation of standard drainage structures.  The cost savings were approximately $400,000.  An additional analysis revealed that 4,000 feet out of 5,000 feet of existing 8” sanitary force main could remain in place with minor adjustments reducing project costs by approximately $100,000.
