Client: FDOT District 1
Lee County, FL
Project Description:
Eisman & Russo, Inc. provided construction management services, ERC reviews and CEI services for this Design-Build project which involved the widening of I-75 from SR 80 to SR 78. The 1.6 mile project reconstructed I-75 from the existing four-lane section to an eight-lane section (three lanes plus an auxiliary lane in each direction). A total of eight bridges were widened including a major crossing over the Caloosahatchee River. To the south, from Luckett Road to SR 80, I-75 was expanded to permit crucial interchange improvements at SR 80 to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow. To the north, work from SR 78 to the Lee/Charlotte Co. line reduced congestion.
The project was ranked by Roads & Bridges Magazine in the Top 10 Bridge Projects in North America. It was recognized at the National Accelerated Bridge Construction Conference in the Prefabricated Bridge Elements & Systems Category. Additionally for this project, E&R has received awards from FTBA for Florida’s Best in Construction, Major Bridge Award in 2016 and also FICE/FDOT with a 2016 Outstanding Project Award.
