Project Description:
Eisman & Russo, Inc. provided civil engineering design services for the construction of approximately 1,400 LF of a new two-lane urban roadway which became a direct road connection between Soutel Drive and Sibbald Road/Linda Lane. The major objective of this project was to enhance the JTA’s transit service operations and to improve pedestrian access and connectivity to the major attractions and businesses within the community.
Scope of work included:
- Development of horizontal alignment and vertical profiles for the roadway, a new 10-foot sidewalk on one side, lighting, signing and pavement marking and landscaping.
- Drainage design included analysis of all existing basins, design of a closed drainage system with two stormwater management facility.
- Permitting efforts with the SJRWMD were provided.
- A new JTA Transit Hub was also built as part of this project that would provide a connection point for three bus routes. Passenger amenities such as shelters, benches and a ticket vending machine were installed.
- Right-of-way impacts including parcel takes and construction easements were identified.
- Utility coordination and relocations impacts of power, communication, water and sewer lines were identified.
- Collection and analysis of geotechnical borings for ponds and signal pole foundation was provided.
- A new traffic signal was installed at the intersection of Soutel Drive and Linda Lane. Signal work included developing of signal operating plans, installation of new mast arms, signal heads, pedestrian signals and signal controllers.
