Project Description:
In 2016, E&R was awarded the Construction Management & CEI services for this estimated 2 year project. The Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) is of vital significance to area interstate travel and the first of its kind to be constructed in North Florida and consisted of reconstructing a 2.3 mile roadway segment from 4 lanes rural to 6 lanes divided urban with bike lanes as well as convert the existing I-95/SR 200 Interchange to a DDI. Construction included water, force main, reclaim and water, numerous utilities relocations, 10.5” of 1.5 miles of concrete pavement, asphalt, extensive drainage, signalization, and 13 high-mast lighting units and 5 under-deck LED light fixtures. In addition, a new ITS system was installed from the project to south of the Duval County line and included ITS interstate devices, DMS signs and structures, and fiber optic cable and conduit for nearly 14 miles of roadway corridor.
The project received a 2022 ACEC-FL/ FDOT Outstanding Project Award (Roadway).
